Creative Careers

Fusion Creative Careers

Fusion’s Creative Careers project aims to broaden the horizons of children at primary schools, through increased awareness of the wealth of exciting career opportunities available in the creative, cultural and heritage sectors.

Funded by IVE, BMHT, Barnsley College, Towns Fund, Wentworth Castle Gardens, DMC and Barnsley Council’s Employment & Skills Team, the project will create a framework of work experience opportunities, that link primary schools with local creative and cultural partners. The aim is to improve the life chances of children and young people across the borough.

The project links Fusion partners and broader cultural and creative careers across the borough, to develop a model and toolkit that increases the visibility of the wide range of creative careers opportunities in Barnsley, via updated gamification on the Panjango platform.

The virtual workplace tours are due to be launched soon and will be accompanied by creative challenges and supporting resources that will raise awareness of creative careers. Teachers will be able to access CPD to support the use of the resources in the classroom.

A Creative Careers Ambassadors programme will also be launched to bring inspiring individuals in the cultural and creative industries in front of children and young people.

Barnsley has produced a wealth of talent from across the arts – music, dance, acting and spoken word. Eloise Unerman, the Poet Laureate for the borough, is part of the project.
